A new exhibition of a painter Samuel Paučo, a prominent graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno and a holder of numerous awards, will be opened at the Art Gallery in Brno. Masks in the art, similarly like human faces, never cease to fascinate, whether they are carnivalesque, theatre or ritual. However, for the artist neither the specific types of masks nor their context was essential, but their strong visual impression. In the Masks series, the real elements of the landscape have become an abstract element, while the masks themselves appear as a central motive behind the imaginary mountain peaks and cliffs. However, the universal artistic theme did not remain at the level of the imaginary Venetian scraper. The author plays out the multilayered motive with irony and detachment, as a response to the omnipresent hypocrisy and superficiality.
